About the Ovarian Cancer Education Center

What We Do

The Center functions in two ways.

Philanthropic activities funded directly by the founder and the Estate of Bridget Nesko support specific programs aimed at preserving Bridget's name and legacy. These include perpetual award and memorial programs at Bridget's alma mater George Mason University (Fairfax, Virginia), where she earner her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, and Samaritan Healthcare and Hospice (in New Jersey), which provided hospice support services to Bridget as she lived her final days at home with her husband. Private funds are used for other programs as well.

Public activities, funded both by private funding and public support, include the Bridget Nesko Ovarian Cancer Education Center, LLC - which is overseen by an independent Board of Trustees and an external Development and Oversight Committees.

The Education Center is built around three core components:

Digital Education and Awareness Training Program

This is the flagship initiative in the Center’s fight against ovarian cancer. It delivers a comprehensive, up-to-date, and evidence-based educational program for primary care providers (PCPs, including family physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants) through a remote training and testing learning management system. Topics include ovarian cancer origins, risk factors, signs and symptoms, diagnostic tools, referral practices, and treatment pathways — all aimed at enabling rapid recognition and response in clinical settings.

Centralized Podcast Library

A curated and centralized digital library of educational and personal journey podcasts designed to educate the public and media. The content is unbiased, globally accessible, and freely available. As it develops, the library will grow to include more than 20 podcast topics, with more added regularly.

Digital Platform and Physical Facility

This hybrid component - located at a physical facility hosted by a sponsoring organization - will support live broadcasts, workshops, symposiums, and town halls aimed at increasing public, media, and public sector (governmental) involvement in ovarian cancer awareness and prevention efforts.

How We Operate & Are Structured

The Center is structured to have Regular Public Members, who elect and can serve as elected Trustees, or in other positions with the Center. We have various classes of members who serve on various operating Boards, including Family Members, Advisory Members, Student Members and Honorary Members. Each classification of membership retains certain rights and privileges of association with the Organization.

All public donations made to the Center are used exclusively for public and medical community ovarian cancer awareness and education programs through the Bridget Nesko Ovarian Cancer Education Center.

Public donations to the organization will NEVER be used by volunteer Trustees, Advisory Board Members or Corporate Officers for salaries or personal expenses.
